I think I am not in the mood for typing today! I had a packed weekend and somehow I don’t feel like typing. So I will keep it short and sweet.

Yesterday I had two of my friends for craft over and I made my 100th Christmas card! Of course that didn’t stop me, I just kept going. Especially since I discovered that stamping with versa mark (clear colour) and embossing with a clear embossing powder looks really good on the pearlised card stock. I had a number of these card stock in various colours and wanted to use it for quite some time. When Vada unpacked her die cuts, I had a look through as I was keen to use the opportunity. You know, the toys of your friends are always better! 😉

So I had selected this kind of oval shape and wanted to use it. And here we are it fitted perfectly on the A6 card. It just needed a bit of border or something around and that’s when I discovered the clear stamping and embossing.

I was so happy, that I decided to make a couple of different cards in the same style, just using different papers and word stamps. The next thing was, that I remembered this amazing turquoise stamp colour and realised, it matches perfectly with the card stock and the paper I had selected! The outcome was three cards in the same colour scheme, but different words and embellishments used. Afterwards I thought what a bummer that I don’t have more of this turquoise card stock left! Funny isn’t it? First I want to get rid of it and suddenly I can’t have enough!

Today I actually didn’t create a full card, but gone a bit into a stamping frenzy again. I wanted to use the remaining pearlised card stock and decided to experiment with embossing powder. First I tried a pure white embossing powder instead of the clear version, then I thought what will it be, if I mix a bit of silver and clear into the white? Of course I had to test it. On the left is the mixed version on the right the pure white:

DSCN6926The next idea was to mix just white and clear, basically I wanted to make the pattern less visible. This time the pure white is on the left and the mix on the right.

DSCN6924It wasn’t that much difference, but I still like each. Now I have five of these pearlised cards sort of half done, I just need to do a bit of decoration and add some words and they are ready to go. Sounds like a quick task, but let me tell you, it won’t be. Selecting matching papers, finding the right die cut to use – since I haven’t got access to the oval one anymore – finding matching word stamps …

I would have loved to finish the cards today, but I just haven’t had time. I was for disc training in the morning, then for a wonderful swim in the ocean – oh it was so calm today – then I quickly baked a cake for my afternoon visitor and cleared my table, so we could actually sit there and enjoy coffee and cake. In the evening I had to quickly assist one of my clients and here we are writing this post and the weekend is almost gone.

Anyway, I did do more cards during the week, mostly for breakfast. I guess I better start writing them its almost mid November and I have to get them into the mail to Germany!
