While thinking about what I could write about I decided to talk about some of my last years Christmas Craft projects.

Beside the many, many Christmas greeting cards I created an advents calendar from Kaiser Kraft.

Advents Calendar

The base was a wood frame and cardboard drawers, which needed to be assembled.

I painted the wood frame with acrylic paint. I think I gave it 2-3 coats to make it bright red.

It was quite a bit of work to cover every single drawer with paper and decorate them. The numbers are also from cardboard and I just needed to colour them.
I mixed them up a bit and accidentally ended up with twice the number 22 and twice the number 11! Luckily I noted it while filling it with little treats and fixed the numbers to show 12 and 21.

The inside is a bit of 3D with the Christmas trees are on different depths. The inside was what I struggled must with, as I am not used to cover such a large area. Most greeting cards are only A6 or maybe A5 and this was a full scrap booking page 30x30cm!

I posted it to my mum in Germany which cost me a fortune, but my mum really loved it, when I finally allowed her to unpack it on the 1st December! I watched her on Skype.

Another project was a Christmas origami ball from Better Homes and Gardens. If I would have read the instructions correctly at the beginning, I think I would have never started.

Origami BallI think I only scanned through the instruction and thought I have to do 12 flowers, each one page folding.

Ha, after I had done around five I realized something is wrong! I checked the instructions again and it fact I needed 12 flowers, each consisting of 5 separate folded papers. In total 60!!

But since I had started I decided to continue. I was sitting through multiple breakfasts – yes this is my daily craft time – and folded and folded and folded. Eventually I had enough pedals and could join them together and finish my origami ball. Nice, isn’t it?

The final project was from an idea I saw in one of the scrap booking shops, a paper mobile.

Star MobileI bought the pre-cut stars in two colours, red and transparent. By choosing stars it became a Christmas mobile, but it can be done with any other shape.

I just sewed with the sewing machine over one star, left a gap and continued sewing over the next star and so on.

At the end of each string I added a bead to make it a bit heavy so it is actually hanging and not flying around.

At the end I fixed them onto the stick and hung it up. Voila a quick and easy decoration.

This year I haven’t done yet any special project yet, just lots of cards. But there are still 3 weeks to go.
