Sorry, I have been a bit lazy with updating my blog as well as my shop.

One of the reasons I couldn’t blog about my first own collage design was the fact, that I made it for my mum for mother’s day, So I had to wait until it arrived in Germany. The parcel was taking far longer then it should have. According to the “Post Guidelines” it says 3-10 work days and it arrived after 18 work days!

Anyway, I am glad it finally arrived and my mum loves it.

When I started it I didn’t really have a plan. I just had bought this nice metallic green paint and the flowers as well as the swirl and wanted to do something with it. I started with the green colour on the canvas, then added brown crackle paint, which I had never used before and gesso to give it a bit structure.
I painted the tiles and then went through all my stuff to see what embellishments would fit. I found items I liked, but they were the wrong colour. However with all the paint I now have I could simply change them around. Of course I wanted to add some shells too.

While playing around with the items I got the idea of adding large letters. I found some chipboard letters in various colours and again painted them into matching colours. After that it didn’t took long and I had my design. I glued it all on with gel medium and let it dry overnight.

I am very pleased with the outcome of my very first own design of a collage canvas.
