Somehow I lost track with the days and missed my weekly blog last week. But hey, I am only one day late and I actually worked yesterday for a couple of hours, so that’s a pretty good excuse I reckon.

So, the celebrations started off on Christmas eve at my dear friend Vada’s place. Linda, Rufus and I were driving together to Vada and Ben. Also Tahereh and Melvyn joint us and another girl called Natalie.

Ben was still busy in the kitchen so I had time to get out all my Christmas Bon Bons and name cards I made and decorated the table. Since the Bon Bons were lying on the plates, Vada came up with the idea to stuck the name cards into the glasses. Looks pretty good, doesn’t it?

DSCN7416Once we were all ready to sit down we opened a bottle of sparkling wine to cheer and soon the first Christmas Bon Bon was cracking. This is just before it all began:

DSCN7389Our starters were spring rolls from Linda, roasted tomatoes from me and fresh bread from Ben.

I don’t have a photo of our Bon Bon-cracking-action, I think everybody got just to excited at all the little goodies that were falling out. I had stuffed each with chocolate and mint bonbons, a paper hat, two jokes and various little goodies, like a peg with a Christmas shape on it, some fancy paperclips and some dragonflies. There was plenty coming out of each bon bon and everybody got a couple of pieces. During starters we tested ourselves on the jokes.

For main Ben roasted two ducks and served them with potato wedges, brussels sprouts, baby broccoli and of course gravy. Yum!

DSCN7395Of course once we were finished with the main course it was nowhere near the end of the feast! Out come the desserts: Home made chocolate ice cream, plum pudding flambe, raspberry coulis, mango, cream and cherries and everything was washed down with a proper coffee. They don’t do half things at the Parry household! 😉

Here some more photos from the feasting:

It was almost midnight when we finally retired to the living room and opened our presents.

There was also a special present for the dog Zoe. After all the action she finally fallen asleep with her new toy.

On Christmas day, the actual Christmas for Australians, I went in the morning for a nice swim in the ocean. Afterwards I made a lentil salad and got ready for the next celebrations. Knowing there is lots more food to come I had just a coffee for breakfast.

At 12.00pm I arrived as the first at Verna and John’s place. But the other guest weren’t long and we started soon with another big feast: Roasted turkey, lots of different salads, traditional ham and bread and of course sparkling, white and red wine. For dessert we had plum pudding and vanilla ice cream. At 4pm I went finally home.

I had a bit of recovery time at home, but the day and the celebrations weren’t finished! At 7pm I went to another party at friends and had a nice margarita cocktail and some wonderful home made cookies. By 10pm I was home again and ready for bed with all the food and drinks.

Unfortunately I didn’t take my camera with me on Christmas day, so I can’t show anything but I am sure you can imagine all the food. 😉

How was your Christmas? I hope you had a great time too.

Thanks for stopping by.

Regine
