I have been busy crafting last week and because I didn’t do my house work on Saturday, as originally planned, I was running out of time and didn’t even write my weekly blog.

I have been doing some more scrapbooking in my art journal. I am now moving on to my brothers family. The first was my sister in law with her third boy. It looks like it was summer and since he seems to be quite tiny I assume it was 2004, when he was born.

Since the photo was coming out of an old calender it was already cut to the current shape, which in return gave me the idea for the design. I used a big sheet of rubbons, lots of flowers, chipboard swirls and brads. Most flowers have been altered with spray ink to make them brighter. I don’t know how I have survived without spray inks in the last years! I absolutely love them. The chipboard has been colored with a stamp pad. Once everything was arranged and glued, I covered parts with glitter spray ink.

Somehow I came up with the idea of finally creating a beyond the page project. It was a kit with almost everything supplied and you just had to add photos. I am not sure how many years I have got that kit already, but I guess 4-5 years.

So with all my scrapbooking attempts I felt I am ready for this. First I colored the 4 mini canvases and because I didn’t have any suitable acrylic paint I used a spray ink! Once dry I inked the edges to give it more dimension. I also inked the edges of all the tags and added the words and the ribbon to the various tags. Since the theme was Family I knew, that I wanted to use photos from my recent holiday in Germany. I picked out photos from each family member, changed them to black and white and then printed them off only to realize they are too big for the tiny tags. Thank God for computers and printers. I just re sized them and then printed again.

Since there weren’t enough bigger tags to match my photos I had to create two tags. Of course I didn’t have the matching paper, so I used the same spray ink like I had used for the canvases, stamped some pattern in a matching color, inked the edges and I was done. Can you guess which tags I created?

The back of the little book shows our family picture we took during my holiday. With my nephews growing up and me being far away its like winning in lotto when everybody is together. And once you have everybody you still have the problem of making everybody face the same direction and smile at the same time! 😉

Do you like it? I would love to read your feedback.
