Woohoo, at the moment I am into new craft!

Quite a while ago I saw this little cafe in Myaree, that offers Pottery painting. I told my colleague about it and we decided to do it one Friday afternoon.

Last Friday it finally was happening! We went there in the late afternoon. There is a huge selection of raw pottery to choose from. My pick was originally a cup, as I can use it on a daily basis, but then I saw the little tea for one set and changed my mind. Another reason to change was, that I have already two painted cups.

We got the instructions as well as coffee and cookies. The next step was to select one or more colors out of 30 colors and to start painting. I started with a green for my cup and planned to stamp a pattern on the cup. While the cup was drying I started with the pot. I decided to do it stripped with 6 colors.

The problem is, that the colors don’t look the same as when they are fired. The clay just sucks the color up and you have to do multiple layers to achieve a rich color – after firing. Without firing they all look like pastel colors.

Unfortunately we were running out of time and therefore I took it home with me with some color to finish the base of my pot. I will have to go again next week and finish the rest.

That’s how it looks like at the moment:
